Update from IMPACT CE Supervisors Branch

PENSIONS

While we have a Labour Court recommendation since July 2008 that a pension be provided to Supervisors/Assistant Supervisors at no cost to us the Govt. have adopted the position that due to the present economic climate this is a non runner. They have also stated that Pension provision is the responsibility of the Sponsors, that FAS were not a party to the hearing etc. We are continuing in our efforts to get discussions restarted and have adopted a joint strategy with our colleagues in SIPTU which should enable talks to resume shortly.

REDUNDANCY

Despite recent statements from the Dept. of Social Protection we have instructed our Union to ensure that all existing agreements have to be honoured and want to assure any member who finds themselves in a redundancy situation that their entitlements under such agreements are met.

CONTRACTS

The position on Contracts is  that in order to establish whether we are included or excluded from the terms of the Short Term Workers Act it needs a case to be taken through the Courts to establish our position. We are awaiting a response to a proposal put to the Dept that in future Supervisors would sign a contract that would cover them for the lifetime of their Scheme subject to funding-this would do away with the need for the signing of an annual contract. We will advise further on this in due course.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Please note that your AGM is planned for Friday 12th April commencing 1.30pm. Nominations are invited for the positions of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary.
