We are secretaries from primary, secondary and community schools. We are all volunteers and we meet approximately eight times during the year for branch meetings. Our committee members travel from Mayo, Dundalk, Galway, Donegal, Sligo, Kildare and Dublin to meet, so our experience reaches throughout the country.
We give our time freely. Why? Because like you we believe we do a valuable job and we believe we should be paid a fair and reasonable rate for the work we do. Like most of you we work alone. We all carry out a wide variety of duties and we work hard. As you know, most school secretaries love their job but that’s not to say we’re comfortable with being taken for granted.
Together we can have a stronger voice. Together we can make things happen. Together we can help improve the terms and conditions of the school secretary. That’s why I’m asking you to consider joining us, and helping us to make a stronger voice for school secretaries throughout Ireland.
