Boards & Voluntary Agencies branch
IMPACT’s Boards & Voluntary Agencies branch represents over 1,000 members of the union. About one third of the branch membership is employed across a range of statutory boards, while the rest of the membership is employed in the community and voluntary sector. All of the sectors are represented among the ten members of the branch executive. There is a network of approximately 50 local representatives active in their workplace on behalf of the Boards & Voluntary Agencies branch.
The branch employs a full time organiser who is currently organising members and supporting workplace representatives in youth, homeless and addiction services and in services to women experiencing violence. The branch is also in the process of launching a campaign to focus on the work of staff in youth services. Like all organisations in the community and voluntary sector, youth services have endured significant cuts to services, jobs and conditions in recent years.
Workers in statutory boards are protected by the Haddington Road agreement (HRA).
