The seminar is part of an EU Trade Union Project, co-ordinated by the European Public Service Union (EPSU) and War on Want, involving trade union partners PCS, NIPSA and ST Sweden among others.
The project is seeking to highlight the socio-economic costs of the elaborate tax avoidance tactics by multinational companies and to demonstrate the need for radical tax policy transformation. Dr Micheál Collins of the Nevin Economic Research Institute (NERI) will present new research at the seminar under the heading International Tax Justice – Ireland’s Role.
The seminar will be opened by ICTU’s general secretary Patricia King. Other speakers include Eamonn Casey* (Tax Justice Network), John Hilary (War on Want) and Nadja Salson of the European Public Services Union.
