Average weekly earnings in the public service have fallen by 1.8% in the past year according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office. Weekly earnings were static across the economy as a whole during the same period, although hourly earnings fell by 0.5%.
Earlier this month, IMPACT set out its priorities for pay recovery in all sectors, including the public service, over the coming years. The union also published Living on Less , a report on changes in incomes, earnings and employment during the recession.
