Deductions from pay
The Payment of Wages Act, 1991 provides that, with every wage packet, every employee has the right to a written statement of their pay and deductions. Employers may not make deductions from wages or receive payment from their workers unless it is:
- Required by law (eg PAYE or PRSI) or
- Provided for in the contract of employment or
- Made with the written consent of the employee.
