Better service and €86k annual savings at liver transplant centre

Thursday 19th April 2012

Croke Park changes are expected to deliver savings estimated at €86,000 a year, with enhanced patient services, at the specialist liver transplant service at Saint Vincent’s hospital in Dublin.

Liver transplant coordinators will change their working day from the current 7am-3pm to 7.30am-7.30pm, giving patients direct access to the coordinators rather than relying on a more expensive on-call system.

Separately, theatre staff have agreed to reduce the number of staff involved in on-call services during evenings and weekend, while nurses on the ward will manage transplant-related calls outside core working hours.
