CSO figures show average hourly earnings in the public sector fell by 4.9% in 2010

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that national hourly earnings fell by 1.9% in 2010, while average hourly earnings in the public sector fell by 4.9%. Read more HERE.
IMPACT opposes pay cut for new entrants

Union economist says deal will beat inflation
A LEADING trade union economist calculates that the pay deal is likely to match inflation over the 21-month lifetime of the agreement. SIPTU's Manus O'Riordan, whose inflation projections were the most accurate in the first phase of Towards 2016, said the most pessimistic current inflation forecasts – 4.6% in 2008 and 3.3% in 2009 – would leave workers 0.3% better off over the lifetime of the deal.
