Dear Director,
I refer to Government proposals regarding cuts in expenditure in public services including Institutes of Technology. The union is aware that considerable challenges are and will be facing all staff in local authorities in the period ahead.
The Local Government Education and Local Services Division is prepared to meet the challenges that may be involved.
Accordingly it is absolutely vital that any changes in conditions of staff should be the subject of advance consultation between the union and management at the appropriate level. To this end I am requesting that no changes be implemented to the conditions of IMPACT grades unless and until there has been adequate engagement between the parties.
