As speculation mounts about the extent to which the community and voluntary sector will be hit with further cuts in the December budget, IMPACT, The Community Sector Employers’ Forum and SIPTU will jointly host a seminar on the issue. The seminar takes place on September 15th at the Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin.
The seminar aims to highlight the importance of the sector and the need to defend this vital sector, and the communities it serves, from further debilitating cuts.
The sector has already suffered disproportionate cuts in recent budgets. The Harvey Report, which was commissioned by the Boards and Voluntary Agencies branch of IMPACT, has highlighted the extent of these cuts and predicts job losses of up to 5,000 in the sector by the end of 2010.
‘The Community Sector – A Cut Too Far’ takes place on September 15th at the Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin from 2pm to 5pm.
Communities Against Cuts, the IMPACT-supported campaign against community sector cuts, is planning a day of action on Wednesday 29th September. More details will be available in our September bulletin.
