IMPACT welcomes legislative changes to public service industrial relations

The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of IMPACT trade union has formally welcomed the announcement yesterday (Wednesday 29th) of two significant legislative changes affecting industrial relations practice in the public service.

The changes were welcomed at a meeting of the union’s executive which is taking place at the union’s Limerick office.

The changes involved the deletion of Section 2B of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (FEMPI) Act 2009, introduced as a limited contingency measure to the legislation in 2013, and an amendement to Section 23(3) (a) of the Industrial Relations Act 1990, providing access for civil servants to the normal industrial relations machinery of the State.
