IMPACT delegates at their divisional conference in Galway have passed an emergency motion to support Dunnes Stores workers who have suffered negative consequences after taking strike action last week.
The union’s education division represents school caretakers and secretaries, schools completion workers, special needs assistants, as well as clerical, library, management and student support staff in the Institutes of Technology and the Education and Training Boards (ETBs).
Margaret Giles, SNA North Dublin/North Leinster branch IMPACT proposed the motion to conference. She said “We call on IMPACT to show solidarity with the Dunnes Stores workers who have been summarily dismissed, have had their shift patterns altered or their hours cut in the six days since Industrial Action on the 2nd April.
“This behaviour, by management in Dunnes, is deplorable and must be condemned.”
