Following yesterday’s Labour Court recommendation about changes to sick leave arrangements in the public sector, IMPACT members and other public servants are obviously keen to fully understand what it will mean for them.
When the Government announced its intention last year to change sick leave, a huge concern for unions was that workers would retain the existing sick leave arrangements for critical illness. During IMPACT’s branch AGMs earlier this year it was very clear that this was a primary concern for our members. The good news is that those arrangements have been retained, which means that anyone facing the difficult circumstances of critical illness will be able to retain vital income.
In today’s video blog we put a few questions to IMPACT general secretary Shay Cody about what has changed and what it will mean for members.
